Strengthening Sport Governance: EOC EU Office Prepares for the Upcoming Launch of SIGGS 3.0

In the framework of the SIGGS 3.0 Erasmus+ project, the EOC EU Office hosted an engaging online webinar on 18 September titled "Support the Implementation of Good Governance in Sport." The event brought recent developments, challenges, and opportunities in good governance to the forefront. Antoine Duval, Senior Researcher at the Asser Institute, delivered a keynote highlighting the critical need for sports organisations to address governance issues, warning that continued misconduct could lead to greater restrictions on sports autonomy. James Carr, Deputy Executive Director from ASOIF followed with insights from the Fifth Governance Review, showcasing how International Sport Federations are responding and continuously developing to higher governance standards. The webinar concluded with the EOC EU Office presenting its updated self-evaluation tool for good governance, SIGGS 3.0, set to launch in December 2024, offering status determination and guidance for sports organisations with tailor-made action plans and good practice examples to enhance their governance.
