On 26 November, the European Commission hosted the 9th edition of the #BeActive Awards in Brussels, celebrating projects that promote participation in sport and physical activity across the EU and Erasmus+ Programme countries. Out of 106 applications, 12 finalists were shortlisted, with winners receiving €10,000. The winning initiatives included “Ninos” project (Fundacja Rozwoju Sportu Espanola, Poland) fostering intergenerational physical activity in the Across Generation category. In the Education Award Category, the “UGOTCHI – Punkten mit Klasse” (Sportunion Österreich, Austria), a yearly programme encouraging healthy lifestyles among pupils in primary schools was awarded. French Métropole de Lyon’s Physical and Wellness Balance Programme was awarded the best in the Workplace category. The winner of the Local Hero award was Alessio Bernabò (Italy), a skipper and sailing instructor, empowering people with disabilities to overcome barriers and embrace the sport’s transformative power.
