GAMES project continues strengthening gender equality in leadership positions

Created on Friday, 30 Sep 2022 13:40:20

On 27-28 September, the Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) of the GAMES Project (Guidance to Achieve More Equal Leadership in Sport) was held at the Olympic Federation of Ireland.

The GAMES project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Sport Programme of the European Union and coordinated by the EOC EU Office. It brings together a consortium of 8 European National Olympic Committees (NOCs), the IOC, as well as esteemed experts and researchers Rowland Jack (I Trust Sport) and Professor Kari Fasting (Equal Rights in Sports). The TPM also counted the valuable testimonials of Sarah Keane (President at the Olympic Federation of Ireland) and Dagmara Gerasimuk (Development Director at the International Biathlon Union).

The meeting allowed participants to discuss the results of the GAMES baseline study to assess gender equality in NOCs and national federations. Another decisive objective on the agenda was to lay the foundation for the Global Pool of Actions for gender equality in leadership and decision-making positions. The consortium carried out impactful and productive dialogues regarding the findings of the study and the structure of the Global Pool of Actions. Accordingly, satisfying progress was made towards the development of the project scope.
