CULT COMMITTEE SUPPORTS NEW ERASMUS+, CREATIVE EUROPE AND SOLIDARITY CORPS PROGRAMMES

On 10th May 2021, CULT Committee has adopted its recommendation for European Parliament to back the 2021-2027 editions of Erasmus+, Creative Europe and European Solidarity Corps.

The Erasmus+ programme as the EU’s flagship programme for education, training, youth and sport was granted an additional 1.7 billion EUR during the negotiations. The programme is targeting people with fewer opportunities to participate and lifelong learning opportunities. Additionally, the new edition is greener, more user-friendly and will also provide mobility for adult learners.

Creative Europe is given a 36% budget increase that will benefit the EU’s culture and audio-visual sector to recover from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2021-2027 European Solidarity Corps will be a significant upgrade in the value it provides for volunteers. Improvements have been made to the insurance policy and health and safety guarantees for the volunteers. Additionally, hosting organisations are now required to prove the quality and meaning of the volunteer activities.

After the CULT committee has agreed to the programmes, it is expected that the plenary of the European Parliament will give final approval to all three programmes in the upcoming plenary week.

The call for applications has already been published, as well as the extension of the deadline to 17 June 2021.
