On 21 September 2016, the European Commission (DG COMP) published five decisions on local support measures, which were not deemed to constitute state aid. One of these decisions, regarding the support of the BLSV Sportcamp Nordbayern in Germany, involves the funding of sport infrastructure.

On 27 September, almost one year after having launched a formal investigation into the International Skating Union (ISU) eligibility rules, the European Commission has decided to send a Statement of Objections to the ISU.

On 12 July, Mr. Hannu Takkula, Member of the European Parliament (ALDE Group, Finland) and Rapporteur of the upcoming own-initiative Report on an integrated approach to sport policy, organised an exchange of views with sport stakeholders.

On 13 July 2016, the Ministers for Education, Science, Research and for Sport and Culture, Peter Plavčan and Marek Maďarič, presented the priorities of the Slovak Presidency in regards to Sport, Education and Culture to the CULT Committee of the EU Parliament.

The Czech Olympic Committee becomes partner of the office

The European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) becomes partner of the office, bringing the total partnership to 23
