High Level Group on Grassroots Sport, set up by Commissioner Tibor Navracsics, met on 22 January 2016 for the second time.

The Netherlands took over the Council Presidency of the EU on 1 January 2016 and will hold it until the end of June 2016. Having presented its programme for the coming six months, these overarching priorities have been highlighted:

The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, visited the Open Reception Centre for refugees in Eleonas, Athens, yesterday. President Bach was accompanied by Jacques Rogge, Honorary IOC President and Special Envoy for Youth Refugees and Sport appointed by the United Nations Secretary.

Between 11 and 13 November 2015, representatives of International Federations (IF) gathered in Lausanne for the IF Forum 2015. This year’s Forum was devoted to the topic of “Governance of sport”.
