UPCOMING: THE FIT FOR 55 PACKAGE UNDER THE EUROPEAN GREEN DEAL

The European Commission will table a package of energy and climate legislative proposals on Wednesday 14 July aimed at reaching the EU’s 2030 goal of cutting emissions by 55%, and putting it on track to hit net zero by 2050. The package consists of 13 legislative proposals which will cover everything from renewables to energy efficiency first, buildings, as well as land use, energy taxation, effort sharing and emissions trading. As the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen tweeted, 'with #FitFor55 we’ll have the rules needed to reach these goals'.

As climate change will affect all aspects of human life, sport included, the EOC EU Office will monitor future climate actions and the potential role of the sport movement to reach these aims.
