NEW EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT RESOLUTION CALLING ON BEIJING 2022 DIPLOMATIC BOYCOTT

On 8 July 2021, the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling on the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, and the Member States to 'decline invitations for government representatives and diplomats to attend the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics unless the Chinese Government demonstrates a verifiable improvement in the human rights situation in Hong Kong, the Xinjiang Uyghur Region, Tibet, Inner Mongolia and elsewhere in China'.

The EOC EU Office will continue informing its partners on this topic, especially since European institutions progressively address human rights infringements in China.
